Being an avid trekker myself (more in spirit these days than in terms of any actual activity), for the past few months I have been captivated by pictures seen in relation to the Sandhan valley. This place reminds me of another similar place I had the privilege of visiting some time back in Switzerland by the name Aareschlucht.

Photographer Shrikant Shimpi's photo blog about Sandhan valley is a must see/read for all nature enthusiasts. To explain a bit more about Sandhan valley in a few words - it is water carved valley between two towering cliffs. Its natural beauty, remote location and demand placed on one's physical and mental strengths to access it, make it one of the top cherished places in the Sahyadri mountain ranges.

Given below are links to Shrikant's blog as well as the Switzerland tourism department's write up on Aareschlucht. Have a look at both these and tell me if you didn't already feel like visiting both these places :-)

Note:- Shrikant has also captured on lens his visits to other spectacular places as well which are worth a dekko, such as the trek to the trinity of Alang, Madan and Kulang forts in the Sahyadri.
