Book reading - a cure for stress from digital information overload!
ARTS & CULTURE
These days a lot of us are grappling with health problems that have their roots in our constant urge to keep pace with the ever increasing information flow from various digital sources - emails, social media, websites etc. Tendency to get distracted too quickly, not being able to focus on any topic on hand etc - all of these are symptoms of our drowning in this information overload.
The article below penned by Hugh McGuire, founder of Librivox - free public domain audiobooks, summarizes the above mentioned problem quite succinctly and suggests a novel way of tackling it. The remedy lies in incorporating book reading (the old fashioned way) as part of the daily routine during which time period reaching out for the smartphones, laptops, tablets or any other electronic gadgets is a strict no-no.
Quite an interesting approach indeed!
