ARTS & CULTURE

Suppose for a moment that you are feeling a bit down and out or sad or gloomy or for that matter anything that negates the state of happiness. Now, if you know and like cricket and satire both (mind you, it is 'and' and not 'or') then the likes of Andy Zaltzman and others of that ilk are a surefire way to dispel those negative emotions and lift your spirits. These gentlemen provide a wonderful commentary on the current state of affairs in the cricketing world that is rib-tickling and informative as well.

Sample a few tweets from Andy Zaltzman as listed below and tell me if they didn't bring a smile to your face :-) (All tweets below were made during the 2012 India - Australia test cricket season.)

  1. "Hilfenhaus could have given VVS a month's notice in writing that he was going to bowl that ball, it would still have got him out."

  2. " I am certifiably not an Australian. I have the documentation and inability to surf to prove it."

  3. "Warner, 95 off 66, goes into his shell. Successive dot balls. India roaring back into it."

  4. "India fought like cornered tigers. Albeit tigers that, having been cornered, were promptly shot and turned into rugs."
