Killing unsuccessful business projects

At any given point in time business organizations have multiple ongoing 'projects'. On most occasions these projects are staffed with resources that also have other day-to-day activities to perform. Therefore, for optimizing employee productivity and in addition for the sake of financial prudence as well, it is necessary to identify from time to time - projects that are no longer relevant or viable and close them down before they suck in and eventually waste additional resources. The following article appearing in the Harvard Business Review provides some guidelines on the need and mechanisms to identify and kill 'zombie projects'.
