Mangalyaan - India's Mars Orbiter Mission

On 5th November 2013 India launched a spacecraft towards the planet Mars and with it raised the collective hopes, expectations and aspirations of all the space enthusiasts around the globe. While visiting Mars is not unique in itself, there are many aspects of this mission which, if it succeeds, will create a template for future interplanetary travel.

Update:- On 24th September 2014, the 'Mangalyaan' was successfully placed into the Martian orbit! With this ISRO has achieved a humongous feat of being the first ever project to place a satellite into the Martian orbit in the first attempt itself.
