Secret behind the microscopic Tardigrade's toughness
SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Tardigrades - a microscopic creature is known for its resilience. It can survive boiling water, alcohol, some of the lowest temperatures in the universe and even blasts of radiation that would kill a human. Its resilience and toughness has been a subject of many a studies aiming to find out what exactly within its biology enables it to be such a tough cookie. Recently in a research paper that was published in Molecular Cell, scientists have claimed to have discovered the secret sauce behind the Tardigrade's toughness. This discovery holds immense potential for engineering similar longevity in vaccines for example which today require speedy transportation under temperature controlled conditions.
