Self-driving cars - are they ready for the road?

As the race to hit the market with self-driving cars intensifies within the automobile industry, the recent fatal accident involving one such vehicle has brought the focus back on whether adequate compatibility exists between factors such as current technology, legal framework around the use of such cars, driving behaviour etc. With due condolences to the life lost, perhaps we can hope that the necessary corrective steps will be taken to make self driving cars a safe, comfortable and efficient form of transportation.
