In a recent study in Kenya, scientists have found that hyena cubs infected by a certain parasite tend to be more reckless (vis-a-vis the non-infected cubs) and risk getting killed by lions. More interesting observation was that these parasites could potentially infect other mammals too (including humans). This made me recollect the movie 'The Happening' whose central plot was very similar - except that in the movie it was the humans getting infected and then killing themselves. Nature is strange indeed. Imagine - admiring someone for their guts / bravery only later to realise that their behaviour was triggered by these parasites and not by their free will!
